West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
"West Ham would deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go

Sam Allardyce is yet to sign a new contract despite leading West Ham to their longest run of success in 15 years

If West Ham decide to dispense with the services of Sam Allardyce, they will deeply regret it.

Allardyce is yet to sign a new contract to replace the one that expires at the end of the season, and while there has been no contact between him and Sunderland, there is nothing to stop someone coming in and pinching the manager who has led West Ham to their longest run of success in 15 years.

Not since the last century have West Ham spent three consecutive seasons outside the Premier League's bottom six, as looks almost certain to happen again this season. The hard-fought 1-0 win over Sunderland was a rejoinder to those who feel West Ham switched off after the New Year with safety already secured.

And while Allardyce teams are occasionally susceptible to sudden and inexplicable cold spells, it would be short-term thinking of the most egregious order to allow him to leave this summer.

“At the end of the season we will look at the squad and say it is capable of this but not able to sustain that and if we get more players in which we have to do to build the club and grow and make sure we sustain the growth we are achieving at this point in time,” Allardyce said after the 1-0 win over Sunderland.

Don't bother trying to make sense of it - it's complete gibberish. But while Allardyce may not be the most eloquent of speakers, he could scarcely have done a better job on the pitch this season. With a move to the Olympic Stadium imminent, Allardyce deserves a chance to take West Ham to the next level.

Doubtless Allardyce, his bargaining position much improved since this time last year, will demand significant transfer funds to turn West Ham into a regular top-eight club. And there remain mumblings over the style of football (actually: not that bad) and his failure to nurture the academy.

But surely it is no coincidence that every single club to have sacked Allardyce in the last two decades has ended up getting relegated within a handful of seasons. West Ham should look before they leap."

Not in the bottom 6 - REJOICE!

The football "isn't that bad" - REJOICE!

Proper two bob attitude from a two bob journalist.

Has that journo got Curtis as his agent?

I would say that most teams who regularly make their home in the bottom third of the PL have been relegated 'within a handful of seasons' after sacking a manager, regardless of who that manager was.

The only thing we'd regret is getting rid of him without replacing him with someone capable of pushing us on.

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
I suppose most journalists think that a manager keeping a team in and around exactly the same position every season while never challenging for cup trophies is a winner.

They miss the point when it comes to the actual football and the actual bloke in charge.

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
On paper that's pretty good yeah.

Apart from the fact that the last 15 years we've been crippled by debt under Brown, then the Iclandics, and G&S.

So we've not had 3 years running the club where we've been able to build like this.

Oh, and we're restricted by the 'bottom 6' once every 3 years criteria as well. So yeah it looks good on paper for Allardyce, but no mention of the debt reduction under G&S that coincides.

I really don't care if he stays, the football is shit though, and I'm sick of this myth, we must be in the premiership in 2 seasons time bollox, so he HAS to stay. That should be a target regardless of manager, surely?

The fear and risk factor again!
7 points from relegation last season. Relegation form since Christmas and a moderate performance against a very poor Sunderland team on Saturday.
Whatever his tactical genius ego believes, most of his decision making has been abysmal.

The part about the gibbersih is funny, as Allardyce's quote actually makes more sense, than the rest of the shit written in that article.

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
I'd like the club to get someone in to unite the fans, if that's possible, but I don't want any old fucker in just to get rid of Allardyce.

So, a sure fire, capable man, who'll be a hit with the fans is the best thing, but I won't cry if Sam stays. If he does, he should get good funding to strengthen the squad even further....then hell have no more excuses for the boring shit.

"was a rejoinder to those who feel West Ham switched off after the New Year with safety already secured."

so a rejoinder to nobody then?

Because I can't imagine many thinking, that we 'switched off', simply because getting relegated was no longer a factor.

Fucking hell, there's arguments for renewing his contract, but this article isn't one of them.

I dont want that cunt Allardyce wasting any more money in the transfer market. Thank fuck Sullivan got Sakho in instead of that lumbering piece of shit Wickham that the idiot Allardyce wanted.

Chinese fuckwit who's obviously followed "soccer" for no more than 3 years. Typical no nthing media mouthpiece who has no idea about any other teams apart from the "Big Four", or club's histories or traditions. Wanker.

Thanks Sky.
